On April 25, 2024, in Nizhny Novgorod, a solemn ceremony was held to sum up the results of the All-Russian Olympiad for schoolchildren in mathematics, which is held annually on the initiative of the Russian Ministry of Education. This was reported by the press service of the governor and government of the Nizhny Novgorod region.
According to the information, more than 470 schoolchildren from 80 regions of the country, as well as a team from China, took part in the 50th All-Russian Mathematics Olympiad for schoolchildren. 19 people were recognized as winners of the Olympiad, and 184 as prize-winners. Among them were Nizhny Novgorod residents: ninth-grader Mikhail Laptev and tenth-grader Semyon Shmidt.
The organizer of the Olympiad in the region was the Nizhny Novgorod State Pedagogical University named after Minin, the partners were the Institute for Educational Development Strategy, the regional government, School 800, the Vega regional center, and Sberbank PJSC. The organizer of the cultural and educational program was the world-class Interuniversity IT Campus NEIMARK.
The anniversary All-Russian Olympiad for schoolchildren in mathematics was held at School 800 for two days. Participants were asked to solve eight problems in mathematics and geometry. The tests lasted ten hours. The works were evaluated by 50 jury members, including teachers from Moscow State University, Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, teachers from schools in the Moscow region and St. Petersburg, etc.
As stated by the Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, Gleb Nikitin, it is a great honor for the region to host the final stage of the All-Russian Olympiad for schoolchildren in mathematics. “The region has a rich tradition of the Olympiad movement, and mathematical education has always been a strong point of Nizhny Novgorod universities,” the head of the region emphasized.
