A school with a focus on modern technical education for 1,100 students will open on September 1, 2025 in the Primorsky district, next to the Ariosto quarters! and Modum. This was announced on April 25 at a joint press conference between the developer of these quarters and the creator of the school, the Arsenal Group of Companies, ITMO University and the government of St. Petersburg.

The main task of an IT school is to introduce children to the professions of the future and teach them technological specialties at the initial, basic and advanced levels. With such an education, it will be easier for children to decide on their choice of profession.

Here they will receive end-to-end teaching of information technology, a digital approach to learning and the formation of “soft” skills. Students will be able to gain their first experience of immersion in the IT environment. In addition to the main program, education will be aimed at Olympiad preparation, real project and research work, as well as developing programming skills and working with digital tools and neural networks.

“This is a unique experience to date of the developer’s participation in the creation of a school, in which he is not limited to the construction of walls and decoration of premises, but is interested and actively participates in improving the educational space and methodological support of the educational process. I am convinced that this practice will be successful and will spread to other areas of the city, also with the involvement of leading universities such as ITMO,” noted the Deputy Chairman of the Education Committee of St. Petersburg Pavel Rozov.

The concept and teacher training program for the new educational institution was developed by ITMO University. It is based on the transfer of experience from university experts in organizing research work with schoolchildren, preparing for competitions, and teaching computer science, taking into account rapidly changing technologies and requirements in this area.

Teachers will be able to improve their soft skills and introduce modern techniques into the educational process.

“Given how rapidly technology and business are developing, the mission of a modern school is changing: it is necessary to give students not just knowledge, but also an understanding of how to effectively apply it. But this concept only works when teachers shape the environment from the inside. The closer the educational process is to real and pressing problems, the greater the chance of not only unlocking the student’s potential, but also giving him the opportunity, already at the school stage, to consciously choose a future profession and be in demand,” commented ITMO Rector Vladimir Vasiliev.

The first graduates of the program will become teachers at a new IT school in St. Petersburg.
