The geography of Russian fish exports in 2023 has expanded to 18 countries. The head of Rosrybolovstvo, Ilya Shestakov, announced this before the meeting of the Far Eastern Basin Scientific and Fishery Council, his words are reported by TASS.

“This year we need to make $5.6 billion in exports. Our main market, of course, is Asian – China, Japan, South Korea; Netherlands; Nigeria – the African market has also become one of the five largest for us. Now supplies are actively developing to other countries – both African and Latin American. In 2023, about 18 countries will be added to the geography of our exports,” he said.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, at the end of 2023, the maximum catch of aquatic biological resources in 30 years was recorded in Russia – 5.3 million tons. At the same time, the country turned out to be the first in the world in terms of salmon catch: its production exceeded 600 thousand tons.

Rosrybolovstvo reported that by April 10, 2024, the catch of fish and seafood increased by 2% year-on-year, exceeding 1.6 million tons.
