With the arrival of spring, ticks have become more active in the region, which can spread infections. For example, tick-borne borreliosis (Lyme disease), granulocytic anaplasmosis, tularemia, monocytic ehrlichiosis.
According to the regional Rospotrebnadzor, as of April 25, 266 people who suffered from tick bites, including 75 children, went to hospitals. Emergency prevention and medical observation were provided to the victims.
In 52% of cases, tick suction occurred on the territory of houses and household plots, 23% – on the territory of forests, meadows, and reservoirs, in 5.3% – on the territory of dachas, in 3.4% of cases – within populated areas, in 6. 8% – when visiting cemeteries. In April, preventive measures were carried out in places of large population presence on an area of 101.7 hectares.
This year, 148 ticks taken from people were delivered and examined. In 17 cases positive results were obtained. The victims were bitten while on the territory of private farmsteads, they were provided with emergency prevention and medical observation.
Anti-tick measures:
- When going into the forest, take care of your clothes: preference should be given to clothes in light colors. It should fit tightly to the body and have long sleeves, at the cuffs, it is better to use zippers as fasteners.
- For preventive purposes, mutual inspection is required every 30 minutes.
- To treat clothing to repel insects, it is recommended to use repellents containing diethtoluamide. Exposed areas of children’s bodies can be treated with essential oils.
- After a walk, a thorough examination of clothing and body is required.
- Under no circumstances should a tick removed from clothing be crushed; it is better to burn it.
- Conduct preventive immunization against tick-borne borreliosis.
