The large-scale goals for the development of the Arctic, set by President Vladimir Putin, involve the creation of tens of thousands of new jobs in the North in all spheres of activity, including creative ones. This was announced by the Chairman of the St. Petersburg Committee for Arctic Affairs German Shirokov.
According to him, it is very significant that the quality of training of specialists in St. Petersburg, their motivation to work in the difficult conditions of the Arctic regions, allows them to be in demand.
Previously, with grant support from the Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives at the Academic Drama Theater named after. Savin in Syktyvkar, a theater laboratory “Ethnotheater Workshop” was created.
“The results were not long in coming: we constantly receive offers about the readiness of directors, artists, actors to go to work from St. Petersburg to the North, and someone has already received an offer of employment and their premiere of the play,” said a member of the Center for Arctic Initiatives at the city committee for Arctic Affairs, director of the Open Workshop Theater ANO Artur Zhuravlev during a meeting with a representative from the legislative body of the state power of the Komi Republic Elena Shumilova.
Another example of the work of the creative direction of the center of Arctic initiatives under the committee was the invitation of young St. Petersburg artists to Syktyvkar to work on the new play “Dovlatov. A novel of special purpose.” After the premiere in April 2024, one of them received an offer to join the theater staff, noted the press service of the Committee for Arctic Affairs.
The Center for Arctic Initiatives was created to unite young representatives of scientific, educational, cultural and public organizations in order to implement projects for the development of the Arctic zone of Russia and increase the role of St. Petersburg in resolving these issues.
