The Russian Army Hand-to-Hand Combat Championship will be held in Buryatia for the first time

The Russian Army Hand-to-Hand Combat Championship will be held in Ulan-Ude. These major competitions connected two dates: the 45th birthday of the sport and the 25th anniversary of the federation itself.

Buryatia will host the national championship in army hand-to-hand combat for the first time in history. About 300 athletes from all over Russia will compete on the FSK mats. The team of our republic will become the largest.

Viktor Kyzmin, President of the Federation of Army Hand-to-Hand Combat of the Republic of Buryatia: 25 athletes who completed all training activities in preparation for this championship. In each weight we have guys who have already shown themselves well at large and large competitions in army hand-to-hand combat.

Army hand-to-hand combat originated in 1979, when the first championship of the USSR Airborne Forces took place in Lithuania. Buryatia exactly a year ago hosted the main competitions of the country’s Armed Forces in this sport, and now the strongest fighters in Russia are coming to visit us.

Vyacheslav Damdintsurunov, President of the Russian Army Hand-to-Hand Combat Federation: The Russian Championship has been held in our country more than 30 times, and about 30 national championships. And this year, probably, a unique feature of the Russian Championship will be that not only civilian athletes, but also representatives of military districts will take part in it.

Participants will fight for a champion belt and unique medals, as well as the main prize – 150 thousand rubles.

Ivan Kozyrev, Minister of Sports and Youth Policy of the Republic of Buryatia: Come, cheer, be charged with patriotism. It will be a truly spectacular spectacle, and the fights will take place in a very dynamic manner. I am sure that the time you will spend in the Physical Culture and Sports Complex at our Russian Championship will pass very quickly and very emotionally.
