Patriarch Kirill blessed the re-establishment of the Otroch Monastery in Tver

His Holiness may come to Tver in July.

On Thursday, April 25, there was a live broadcast with the participation of the Governor of the Tver Region, Igor Rudeni. In particular, the head of the region spoke about a recent meeting with Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus’.

Igor Rudenya expressed hope that His Holiness will come to Tver in July to consecrate the Transfiguration Cathedral. In addition, the governor said that the Patriarch blessed the reconstruction of the River Station and the Otroch Assumption Monastery.

Let us remind you that part of the River Station building collapsed in 2017. The first collapse occurred on the evening of August 6, when part of the basement wall fell. The process continued the next day, and on August 8, more than 400 square meters of the rotunda collapsed. This moment was captured on video by a Tverigrad.ru correspondent.

The revival of the Transfiguration Cathedral on a historical site began in 2014 and was carried out with the support of caring residents of the Upper Volga region and the Cathedral charitable foundation. The first service – the first Divine Liturgy was held in the restored Transfiguration Cathedral – took place here on December 5, 2018, on the day of the celebration of the 700th anniversary of the feat of the Holy Blessed Prince Mikhail of Tver. And on December 5, 2023, a monument to Mikhail Tverskoy and St. Simeon was solemnly opened on Cathedral Square near the temple.

On January 7, for the first time since the restoration of the temple, a Christmas service was held in the Transfiguration Cathedral. Now services are held regularly in the cathedral.
