Veterans of the Great Patriotic War who were awarded the medal “For the Defense of Leningrad” or the badge “Resident of Siege Leningrad” and living in the Pskov region can relax for free at the Zarya boarding house in St. Petersburg. PAI was informed about this by the press service of the regional government.

The program to support veterans is being implemented within the framework of agreements reached between the Governor of the Pskov Region, Mikhail Vedernikov, and the Governor of St. Petersburg, Alexander Beglov.

The first group of Pskov blockade veterans has already rested in a boarding house. 13 people, as well as their accompanying persons, took advantage of this opportunity. Another group will go on vacation in May-June.

The Zarya boarding house is located in the resort village of Repino on the shores of the Gulf of Finland. The period of stay is eight days. Veterans can go on vacation at any time convenient for them until the end of the year.

According to the regional committee for social protection, as of April 1, 147 veterans of the siege live in the Pskov region. All potential program participants are informed about the possibility of free holidays in the boarding house.

The program to support veterans is timed to coincide with the 80th anniversary of the complete liberation of Leningrad from the Nazi siege.
