The prosecutor’s office is appealing the verdict of the abuser from Arkhangelsk Pyatakov

The prosecutor’s office of the Arkhangelsk region reported that they will appeal the verdict of the former deputy head of the Federal Penitentiary Service for the region.

Let us recall that former Federal Penitentiary Service officer Pyatakov, in the interests of his acquaintance, the general director of Business Neva LLC, organized procedures for the purchase of goods, materials, services and equipment for the needs of penitentiary institutions. At least 51 government contracts were awarded for the supply of goods, equipment, materials and services at inflated prices. The damage caused to the Federal Penitentiary Service is estimated at 4.5 million rubles.

Yesterday, by the verdict of the Oktyabrsky District Court of Arkhangelsk, Pyatakov was sentenced for abuse of official powers in the form of forced labor for a period of 2 years with the deduction of 10% from wages to the state income, as well as an additional punishment in the form of deprivation of the right to hold positions in the civil service related to the implementation of organizational – administrative and economic powers, for a period of 2 years.

The civil claim in the criminal case was left without consideration; claims of a property nature are subject to resolution through civil proceedings.

The verdict did not enter into legal force.

As the press service of the Prosecutor’s Office of the Arkhangelsk Region explained to the news agency “Echo of the North”, the state prosecutor requested 3 years in a penal settlement for Pyatakov, therefore the supervisory authority considers the sentence unreasonably lenient and will appeal it.
