A City Duma deputy spoke about the meaning of this symbol of military valor
The all-Russian event “St. George’s Ribbon” has started.

In Voronezh, on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, the all-Russian event “St. George’s Ribbon” started. Within its framework, citizens will be presented with about 6.5 thousand commemorative symbols.
This time, the first ribbons were received by veterans of the Great Patriotic War, labor, combat veterans and participants in a special military operation. The gala event took place at the city Palace of Children and Youth Creativity on Children’s Square.
St. George’s ribbons were handed over to the commanders of Youth Army units from local schools and gymnasiums. Now, until May 9, participants in the military-patriotic public movement will distribute them to all citizens who want them near schools, in parks and squares.
Voronezh City Duma deputy Alexander Vorontsov took part in the ceremony. He himself is a retired police colonel and a holder of the Order of Courage.
“For us, the St. George Ribbon is the ribbon of St. George and the Cross of St. George,” explained Alexander Vorontsov. “It is a symbol of respect for our veterans, a memory of our soldiers who died on the battlefields, and also a symbol of gratitude to those people who gave everything for the front.”
Anyone can take part in the St. George’s Ribbon event. To do this, you just need to attach a ribbon to your clothes as a symbol of memory and gratitude to the heroes who defended the country during the Great Patriotic War.
Please note that the St. George Ribbon must be worn with respect. The best place for it is on the chest near the heart. But wearing it on bags, on a belt, on the head, on the wrist as a bracelet and on the body of a car is categorically not recommended.
