In 2024, the Chelyabinsk Regional Children’s Library will celebrate its 105th anniversary. V. Mayakovsky and the head of the department of children’s literature and library work with children (1970-1990) of the Chelyabinsk State Academy of Culture and Art, David Goldstein, would have turned 105 years old.
Creative friendship connected the department of the institute, teachers of the children’s department David Abramovich Goldstein and Nina Fedorovna Novichkova with the regional children’s library named after. V. Mayakovsky. Librarians and young readers remembered joint professional events, discussions of children’s books with children, and participation in Children’s Book Week.
The Department of Children’s Literature and Library Work with Children of the Chelyabinsk Institute of Culture, the professionalism and personal qualities of its teachers, has trained many generations of library specialists.
Goldstein D.A. and Novichkova N.F. instilled in students knowledge and understanding of children’s literature, the ability to cultivate a love of reading in children, and the desire to improve in the profession.
In memory of wonderful teachers, the Chelyabinsk State Institute of Culture, together with the leading libraries of Chelyabinsk, initiated the holding of Goldstein readings. In 2024, the theme of the readings is “Recommended bibliography for children as a reading guide” Recommendatory bibliographic aids for children are a means of managing reading, developing reading interest and taste in children.
Goldstein’s readings took place on April 24, 2024 as part of the international intellectual forum “Reading at the Eurasian Crossroads” at the Chelyabinsk Regional Children’s Library named after V. Mayakovsky. The event was attended by leading specialists from the Russian State Children’s Library, Russian State Pedagogical University. A.I. Herzen, Chelyabinsk State Institute of Culture, librarians and bibliographers of libraries of the Chelyabinsk region, Altai region. They spoke in agreement program sections of children’s libraries.
