The mayor’s office explained that all work was approved by the city commission for demolition, pruning and restoration of green spaces.

Omsk residents complained about the demolition of trees during the reconstruction of Architects Boulevard. A video has appeared on social networks showing machinery demolishing recently planted trees.

– This is the price they pay to build a new road. I don’t care about the trees that people planted. Some kind of nightmare. Well, really it was impossible to dig it up with the same tractor. People would have transplanted it,” Omsk residents noted.

The mayor’s office said that the reconstruction of the boulevard provides for the expansion of the roadway to 4-6 lanes. Therefore, trees falling within the work area are demolished. The removal of plants has been agreed upon with the city commission for demolition, pruning and restoration of green spaces. The mayor’s office promised to work on the issue of replanting trees with the contractor, specialists from the Kirov District and local residents.

The administration also noted that as part of the reconstruction, landscaping of the adjacent territory will be planted; more than 6,000 shrubs and large trees will be planted there.
