In St. Petersburg, despite rains and thunderstorms, 285 people encountered the problem of ticks. Within the city limits, 32 people were injured.

In the Northern capital, 285 people came to medical institutions within a week with the problem of sucking ticks. Among those who applied from April 19 to April 25, there were 55 children, the press service of Rospotrebnadzor in St. Petersburg reported.

32 cases of tick bites were registered in the city. The Pushkinsky district became the most dangerous, 16 people were injured there. Among those bitten, no one became infected with tick-borne encephalitis, but two people fell ill with borreliosis.

Over the past week, more than 4.5 thousand people, including 1,566 children, received routine vaccination against tick-borne encephalitis.

The agency reminds that if a tick is found on the body, it is necessary to urgently go to the nearest trauma center, where the pest will be removed and sent for examination, and the victim will be provided with the necessary medical care. Insect testing is necessary to detect possible carriers of various diseases.
