The ex-prosecutor of Tambov spoke about the investigation into the brutal murder of a schoolboy

A terrible crime was committed about fifty years ago in the Tambov region. Then the body of a 15-year-old boy was found in the river near the village of Khitrovo.

As it turned out, someone brutally dealt with the teenager – experts counted at least 30 stab wounds on the student’s body. The boy’s throat was cut. A former employee of the prosecutor’s office, Mikhail Afanasov, told Tambovskaya Zhizn about how they were looking for the killer. Now he is on a well-deserved rest, and at the time of that crime he was a novice investigator.

Suspicions immediately fell on an acquaintance of the deceased – a 16-year-old boy, but he denied everything and even reported another friend of theirs, who allegedly walks around with a knife all the time and practices the art of throwing it. But this young man had an ironclad alibi – at the time of the crime he was in a completely different place.

But wet clothes were found at the first suspect’s home. But it was impossible to use it as evidence of a murder – you never know where wet things could come from in the house. An anonymous letter helped to establish the truth, which said who the killer was – the unknown person wrote that he saw a 16-year-old boy and his father on the day of the murder, when they were walking from the river, all wet.

The investigator was able to find the anonymous person using his handwriting. It turned out to be a woman who worked as a cleaner at the school. At first she did not want to say anything to the investigator, as she feared for her life. But soon she still gave evidence. The woman said that the guy’s family was dysfunctional, and the deceased young man often visited their home. There he saw how a man offended his wife, and often stood up for her. This became the motive for the murder – father and son developed a plan, dealt with the boy and tried to get rid of the body.

Father and son confessed to the murder. The man was sentenced to death, and the teenager was sentenced to long imprisonment due to his age.
