In Novosibirsk, law enforcement agencies opened a criminal case into illegal actions against journalists carrying out legal activities.
According to the investigation, the incident occurred on the afternoon of April 2 in the Zheleznodorozhny district of the city. Journalists from one of the TV channels were filming a story about construction on the river bank. The driver of the truck, seeing the film crew, demanded that they stop working. The man threatened journalists with physical force and then damaged their video camera.
A criminal case has been initiated against the defendant, detained under Article 91 of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Russian Federation, under Article 144 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Obstruction of the lawful activities of a journalist.” He has been charged, and in the near future the investigation intends to petition the court to select a preventive measure in the form of detention.
