“Music of the World in the White Well” (16+) is one of the largest and most anticipated events of the Platonov Arts Festival, which takes place annually in a unique picturesque place in the Voronezh region. The open air, set in chalk hills with spectacular views of the lake, brings together thousands of spectators enjoying music from different parts of the world. The compositions performed by the artists reflect the culture of their regions, reinterpreting traditional musical motifs and giving them a contemporary sound.
Florence Adooni, Ghana
The group represents a unique and extremely rare musical direction – the gospel of the Frafra people. Moreover, her performance style differs from the original spiritual genre of northern Ghana – the singer was born and raised in Kumasi, in the epicenter of secular music. By combining modern dance motifs and traditional performance, Florence Adooni was able to give a new and unusual sound to gospel music. Florence Adooni will perform in Russia for the first time.
Ali, Indonesia
Ali is a band founded by musicians from Jakarta with the goal of creating a new rhythm and sound in the modern Indonesian scene. Their songs combine 70s psychedelic funk, cinematic soul, afrobeat and disco. Ali members Arsvandar, John Paul Patton and Absar Lebe write lyrics for their songs in Arabic. They are inspired by the art of the Middle East, which has been part of Indonesian culture for many centuries, and describe their music as “Middle Eastern rhythm with a south-eastern twist.”
TmbaTa Orchestra, Armenia
TmbaTa Orchestra is a musical project founded in Yerevan in 2013 by the famous Armenian rock musician Arik Grigoryan.
