The program for celebrating Victory Day was discussed at the Omsk city press center.
On the eve of the holiday
According to the director of the Department of Culture Oleg Fedorenko, 83 events will be held in honor of the 79th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. Of these, eight are citywide large-scale projects. However, some events have already started. For example, on April 25, a“St. George’s Ribbon” event. The Victory symbol will be distributed until May 9 at shopping malls, the railway station, and Lyubinsky Prospekt. In total – 12 city points.
From May 2 to May 6, all districts of Omsk will be united by a project that has become traditional “And Victory came to every yard!” This is a two-hour program with mobile propaganda teams consisting of creative groups from the city. The project’s focal points will be Red Star Square, the Kirov District Palace of Culture square, Sovetsky Park, the Pervokirpichny microdistrict square and PKiO named after. 30th anniversary of the Komsomol. There will be interactive platforms, retro film screenings and congratulations to veterans.
At the beginning of May there will be “Gift to a Veteran” campaign. They will come to each front-line soldier’s home and congratulate him on the upcoming holiday personally. On behalf of Mayor of Omsk Sergei Shelest will be given a gift set. It will include healthy sweets. As Oleg Fedorenko noted, 59 participants of the Great Patriotic War now live in Omsk. Of these, the youngest is 93 years old.
A military history festival will be held at the Automotive Armor Institute on May 4 from 11.00. Everyone who comes will be able to see military equipment and watch a reconstruction of a military battle.
On the same day to the traditional motorcycle rally “Way to victory” Vintage cars will join. About 15 motorcycles and 10 cars. They will travel through memorable and memorial places in the city. The start is designated in the Kirov district from the Kirov district cultural center. With banners they will drive to the Soviet Park and head to the stele “Omsk – the city of labor valor”. A rally will be held at the memorial site.
Main site – Victory Park
Victory Day will begin with the ceremonial laying of flowers at memorials and monuments (at the Staro-Northern Memorial Cemetery, at the monuments to D. Karbyshev, G. Zhukov, in the Victory Park memorial, etc.). At 10.00 a ceremonial formation of the Omsk garrison troops and a parade will begin on Cathedral Square.
Large-scale events on May 9 will unfold in Victory Park. There are 25 interactive platforms in total. In particular, 9 units of equipment from the Omsk garrison will be presented, 6 from the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations in the Omsk Region.
A six-hour festive program will take place on the main stage of the park – from 13.00 to 18.30. Children’s and adult groups will perform on stage. One of the compositions they will perform together will be the song “Stork on the Roof.” It will be picked up by all local venues of the 30th Anniversary of Victory Park. The festive concert will end with the song “Victory Day”.
We can’t do without the “Festival of Soldiers’ Porridge”. For Omsk residents they will cook three types of it – pearl barley, buckwheat, millet.
Emphasis on family values
The Omsk fortress will become another location for the celebration of May 9th. “Strong family – Great Victory” – this will be the name of the festive program. Several points of attraction for family leisure are planned. The organizers have prepared interesting locations for children and their parents: exhibitions, master classes, photo zones, sports and entertainment grounds, etc.
Patriotic events will also be held by the Defenders of the Fatherland Foundation and the executive committee of the Popular Front of the Omsk Region. In addition, everyone is welcome to the historical Festival “Omsk Region – Land of Heroes”where you can travel back in time and learn about the main stages of the formation of the Omsk fortress from the 17th to the beginning of the 20th century.
– At 13.00 the festive concert program will begin on the main stage. Viewers will be told about the little heroes of the big war: children who participated in the Second World War. From 16.00 visitors will be presented with a musical plastic performance. From 17.00 national associations will talk about the traditions of their family in the project of the same name. From 18.00, artists from municipal groups will take the stage, presenting the literary and musical composition “Keep the Soldiers’ Letters.” At 21.00, the cover band “Collection of Butterflies” will complete the festive program in the Omsk fortress, performing songs of the war years– shared Natalya Shelenberg.
