Two new monuments will appear in Astrakhan. The first is the “City of Labor Valor” stela. And the second is an obelisk in honor of the Astrakhan people who defended Stalingrad. The initiative to establish such a memorial of military glory was announced at a meeting of the regional organizing committee to prepare for the celebration of the 79th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945, which was chaired by the governor of the Astrakhan region, Igor Babushkin.
The meeting participants focused on ensuring security at all the main facilities where the festive events will take place. In the current difficult conditions, this becomes especially important.
“There are exactly two weeks left until May 9th. Considering the current situation and attempts by external forces to undermine the socio-political situation in the country, special attention is paid to security issues. All events must be organized at the highest level“, the head of the region reminded those present.
In addition, they discussed the installation of a memorial stele “Astrakhan – the city of labor valor.” This is a significant event for the Astrakhan region. And also very responsible. The development of the project is approaching the finish line. The meeting participants discussed the issue of installing a new military glory memorial in the regional center – an obelisk in honor of the Astrakhan defenders of Stalingrad. A year ago, such a monument was unveiled on Mamayev Kurgan in Volgograd. Now the idea has arisen to install an analogue in the Astrakhan Brotherhood Garden.
