Today the new mayor of Novosibirsk, Maxim Kudryavtsev, officially took office. At the first press conference, he spoke about his vision for the development of public transport in the city.

According to Maxim Kudryavtsev, rail transport should become the basis of the urban system. Therefore, he proposed, first of all, to develop the metro, high-speed tram and city train.

Regarding the prospects for the development of the metro, he noted that it is necessary to prepare a project for the construction of new stations for 10-15 years.

The mayor also said that it is necessary to understand where it would be more effective to use the classic underground metro, and where to use the high-speed tram.

As for the city train, in his opinion, it is an integral element of the transport system of the metropolis. Maxim Kudryavtsev noted that it is important to create comfortable platforms, access and pedestrian routes, and transfer hubs. So that people can conveniently move from one type of transport to another.

Maxim Kudryavtsev added that all this is a big promising work that requires the investment of tens of billions of rubles, which are not in the city budget.

According to the new mayor, in order to obtain additional financial resources, it is necessary to increase the municipality’s own budget revenues: to use city property more efficiently, including land, buildings and financial resources. “I believe that reserves can be found there and used to solve pressing problems,” said Maxim Kudryavtsev. Another important source of income, according to him, is interbudgetary transfers, including from the regional budget.
