The decision on the need to strengthen control during the holidays was made during a meeting of the operational headquarters to prepare for the fire season.

“The Ministry has issued orders on the protection of forests from fires during the holidays, on conducting patrols of the forest fund, especially in places where there are large numbers of people,” emphasized the head of the Ministry of Forestry, Igor Muraev.

According to the Northern UGMS, at the beginning of May the average monthly air temperature in Pomorie is expected to be within normal limits, and a similar forecast for the amount of precipitation. At the same time, the Unified Forest Fire Center and all structures involved in extinguishing forest fires are fully prepared for the beginning of the season.

— In the near future we will conduct a flight over the territory to assess the presence of snow cover in the forests. The ELC regional dispatch service will begin round-the-clock operation on April 27, and not from the beginning of the season, as previously planned, Nikolai Zelyanin, deputy director of the Unified Forest Fire Center, reported during the meeting.

He noted that during the holidays a team of paratroopers and firefighters had been formed for possible participation in interregional maneuvering.

“Taking into account the experience of past fire seasons, be also prepared to promptly provide assistance in extinguishing landscape fires, which often occur at the junction of forests and populated areas,” emphasized Igor Muraev.

If a fire is detected in the forest, you must immediately report the fire by calling the forest protection hotline: 8-800-100-94-00, (8-8182) 41-06-41.

Earlier it became known that the forest fire season in Pomorie will begin on May 1st.

From May 1, the regional dispatch service of the Unified Forest Fire Center will begin to work around the clock.

Earlier in the Arkhangelsk region they began preparations for fire-prevention arrangement of forests: it is planned to lay 422 kilometers of mineralized strips.

In total, Pomorie plans to involve almost two thousand people in the fight against forest fires.

Such data is contained in the consolidated forest fire extinguishing plan for 2024.

Let us remind you that at the end of March, an operational headquarters to extinguish forest fires began working in the Arkhangelsk region.

And in mid-April, paratroopers of Pomerania completed preparations for the new forest fire season.

It took 150 PDPS specialists and 16 observation pilots almost two months to hone their skills

Let us add that the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia assessed the fire danger in the forests of the Russian Federation based on weather conditions and retrospective data for the upcoming fire season.

According to the department, an early start to the fire danger season in Russian regions is not expected.

Experts made this conclusion based on an analysis of surface air temperature, the state of the underlying surface, moisture reserves in the soil and snow cover, as well as taking into account current information about fire danger in forests.

Let us remind you that in 2023 forest fires in Pomorie covered an area of 286 hectares – this is 10 times less than in 2022. In total, 110 fires occurred, in 2022 – 181. At the same time, 97 percent of fires in forests were extinguished in the first day, thereby preventing the fire from spreading.

During the season, 12 aircraft were involved in aerial monitoring, which worked about three thousand flight hours. Thanks to such patrols, half of all forest fires this season have been detected.

Let us remind you that the fire season in the Arkhangelsk region officially ended on October 2, 2023

It was from this day that restrictions on visiting the Pomeranian taiga were lifted.

And it was installed on May 1, 2023.

The first forest fire in Pomorie in 2023 was registered on April 19: sawmill waste burned on the territory of the Velsky forestry. The area of the forest fire was 0.02 hectares and it was extinguished within an hour.
