On the evening of April 25, 2024, an accident involving a cyclist occurred on Starostin Street in Murmansk. According to the State Traffic Inspectorate, the Nissan driver collided with a 13-year-old cyclist.

The minor was treated as an outpatient at a medical facility.

“A cyclist is an equal participant in the road traffic and, in the absence of a specially designated path or lane, must move along the right edge of the roadway in the same direction, and when crossing the roadway at a pedestrian crossing, dismount from the bicycle,” the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate for the Murmansk Region reported.

The movement of cyclists under 14 years of age must be carried out only on sidewalks, pedestrian, bicycle and pedestrian paths, as well as within pedestrian zones.
