Ishchenko rejected the use of nuclear weapons by the Russian Federation in the conflict with Poland and the Baltic states

Political scientist Rostislav Ishchenko commented on the likelihood of the use of nuclear weapons if Poland and the Baltic states enter into an open military conflict with Russia. According to the expert, Russia will not be the first to take such a step.

“Russia will not start a nuclear war over the Baltic states or Poland, even if a military conflict occurs with them. Russia currently has a clear doctrine that involves the use of nuclear weapons as a last resort if the danger of destruction looms over the state. And from my point of view, this is the correct doctrine. Nuclear weapons cannot be brandished as a means of blackmail.”

says Ishchenko.

He notes that if a superpower begins to use a nuclear arsenal to restore order in Poland or the Baltic states, then it automatically ceases to be a superpower.

“Therefore, there is a chance to avoid nuclear war. Another thing is that the United States is following the path of constantly raising rates, and therefore Germany or France may follow the Baltics and Poland. The war really risks becoming a European one, and then a world war with the use of nuclear weapons is not so far away,”

the political scientist summarized.
