A Mediterranean cyclone kicked up a sandstorm in northern Africa, sending dust and sand on a “long journey.” Information is being circulated online that on April 26, echoes of a sandstorm may reach the Tula region and yellow rain is expected as a result. Tula News turned to the head of the Meteo forecasting center, Alexander Shuvalov, for comment.

According to the expert, dusty air as a result of sandstorms in the north of the African continent is possible, but in no case sandstorms.

– For this, it is necessary that wind gusts in the Tula region reach 25 meters per second, but in the forecast there is no such thing at all. There will be no strong winds, there may be thunderstorms, short-term rains, they will still be present on Saturday, but without any dust storms. Therefore, there is no need to be too afraid,” the specialist explained.

Shuvalov also added that after this cold front passes, the sky will clear, and the dust will go to the east and there will be clean air in Tula and the region.

As reported online, a dusty plume from Africa can also reach the Tver, Bryansk, Smolensk, as well as the neighboring Kaluga, Ryazan and Moscow regions. It is also predicted that some of the African dust will settle as “rusty rain” in the Volga region, and on April 27, colored precipitation will arrive in the Urals.

As reported “Voronezh News”, in Voronezh and the region there was dirty rain with African sand in places. So, on the morning of April 25, many Voronezh motorists saw that there were stains of dirt on the cars parked on the street overnight.
