Not only is this a very unusual and rare meteorological phenomenon for our region, but dust was also brought to the Tambov region from the Sahara. The footage was sent to us by one of our viewers. After the rain, cars and window glass were covered with a thick yellow-brown coating.
The same phenomenon was noted in the Lipetsk, Voronezh, Belgorod and Kursk regions. Among the reasons cited is a sandstorm from the Sahara. To the extent possible, we asked the head of the information department of the Tambov hydrometeorological center, Tamara Sheina, to comment.
A dust storm can spread, if the speed of air flows at high altitudes is high, then this can happen. This is the first time, for the first time in my practice, that dust has flown to us from the Sahara. The dust storm phenomenon itself is present and there is a possibility that the dust storm could reach Russia, so to speak.
