About five to ten calls per shift are handled by the disaster medicine team in the Pskov region. This was reported by brigade paramedic Polina Borzenkova on the air of the “Anamnesis” program on the “Silver Rain” radio station (88.3 FM) in Pskov.

At the moment, 12 specialists work in this team, replacing each other: four paramedics, four nurses and four drivers, said Polina Borzenkova.

“We need people who can make quick decisions in different situations. It is no coincidence that we are talking about road accidents and other problems that may arise in modern realities, where medical triage and evacuation measures of various kinds may be required. These people are specially trained, they know how to make decisions and direct the patient to where he will receive first aid,” emphasized Samir Al-Arabi, deputy chief physician for the medical department of the Pskov emergency medical station.

It should be noted that the first and only disaster medicine team began working in the Pskov region in 2023. Team members respond to traffic accidents, fires, suicides, gunshot wounds, acute heart pain and serious injuries on the street.
