A new sign appeared on the facade of the house of Great Patriotic War veteran Mikhail Trapeznikov at 1 Industrial Lane.
Mikhail Sergeevich took part in battles with the Nazi invaders from March 15, 1942 to May 9, 1945, and was awarded the Order of the Patriotic War of the second degree, medals “For Courage”, “For the Defense of Stalingrad”, “For Victory over Germany” and others.
During the war, the soldier’s parents received a funeral twice, but he remained alive, returned home, got married, and built a house. After the war, Mikhail Sergeevich worked for many years as a senior mechanic in motorcade No. 1116, worked on the railway, and took an active part in rationalization work. For exemplary work he was awarded the medals “Excellent Traveler” and “Veteran of Labor”. On his initiative, more than 200 new developments were introduced, which significantly eased the hard work of railway workers. In February 1980, the veteran was awarded the certificate “Best Innovator of the Vologda Region.”
The production of the name plate was carried out by volunteers from the region together with the Youth Policy Department of the Regional Government.
“At the initiative of volunteers, another sign appeared in the courtyard of Mikhail Sergeevich’s house – on a tree. This “Tree of Victory” was planted by junior lieutenant Trapeznikov back in 1965 with his own hands. This is what the new sign says, which will preserve the memory of the Hero for many years“said Vitaly Kobylnikov, head of the Youth Policy Department of the Regional Government.
Despite his advanced age, Mikhail Sergeevich participates in work on patriotic education, meets with young people, and speaks at city and regional meetings.
