Governor Anton Alikhanov ordered the introduction of a single ticket for public transport with the possibility of transfers in 2025. A mobile application must be developed for the travel document. It will also be possible to plan your vacation: pay for visits to cultural institutions, build a cycling route, and so on. The head of the region announced this at a meeting of the council to improve the investment climate in the Kaliningrad region.

Starting next year, there should be a single ticket with the possibility of at least one transfer within an hour, so that a person, for example, takes a bus in Kaliningrad, gets to the Northern Station and, using the same ticket, gets on an electric train, gets to Zelenogradsk, gets to Svetlogorsk. So that a person knows and can buy in one place, in one application, a ticket to the Tretyakov Gallery, a ticket to the opera or ballet to a branch of the Bolshoi Theater. So that it is immediately clear to him where and which berth to sit on, what schedule to travel along the river, where we have cycling infrastructure and where he can freely take or leave a bicycle, bike paths, a gambling zone so that it can be built into this,” Alikhanov explained.

According to him, in the Kaliningrad region it is necessary to reformat the work of the tourist information center and connect the infrastructure with each other, as in the Krasnodar region.

“Krasnaya Polyana has its own management company. Yes, there are a lot of investors there, but there is an umbrella that manages everything and deals with it in terms of flows and knowing people where to go, where to spend money. Our task is to give them the opportunity to do this. I don’t need these tourists themselves. Someone has already joked that they don’t have to fly in, but transfer money by cash on delivery – we will send them postcards in response. It’s a joke, but they should be able to spend the money. And we are, of course, happy about them. And we will do everything to make them feel good and pleasant. But the economy must work: they must leave this money here, and you and I, residents of the Kaliningrad region, the economy, taxes, budget, must earn money from this,” the governor emphasized.

The head of the region spoke about the need to connect city and intermunicipal transport with a single ticket back in 2017. In Kaliningrad, they have been discussing their fare system with the possibility of transfers for several years.
