A cultural space dedicated to the Mitki art group will appear on Pesochnaya Embankment. As the Etalon Group clarifies, the art space will be created in one of the residential buildings that will be built on the site of the former Leningrad Youth Palace (LDM). The theme of the progressive art group was chosen, among other things, to preserve the “memory of the place” – Mitki held its own exhibitions within the walls of LDM.

The interactive art space will include the Mitki Museum, which will be curated by the founder of the art group, Dmitry Shagin. As the authors of the project specify, the museum will also have a digital exhibition, as well as a rich collection of artifacts, which will be regularly updated thanks to the townspeople. Mitki on social networks appealed to city residents to collect exhibits for the museum: photos, objects, archival documents and memories associated with LDM and the Leningrad underground, the center of life of which since the middle 80’s years this place was.

As the Mitki themselves report, future exhibits include, for example, rare railings from the LDM atrium, which were touched by Viktor Tsoi and others, cassettes with a concert of the laureates of the first festival of the Leningrad Rock Club, paving stones from the LDM atrium and a project for a memorial plaque about the Leningrad Rock Club club.

In memory of the legendary LDM, an art object will be installed on the territory, and signs and decor with the name LDM will be used in the design of the new territory and buildings. Including the preserved panels of the famous Leningrad ceramic artist Vladimir Lashchinin, which for a long time were part of the interior decoration of the palace. Before dismantling, they were transferred to the funds of the Keramarch Museum of Architectural Ceramics for storage and display in a permanent exhibition. In addition, during the new development they promise to preserve the trees growing here, integrating them into the future park on Pesochnaya Embankment.

The construction of the LDM was timed to coincide with 60th anniversary Komsomol, which was noted in 1978. Construction took almost 10 years. The complex was put into operation in three stages – first appeared 14-storey a hotel, then a club part, a swimming pool and a concert hall. They plan to put housing into operation in its place in 2027now a recreation center is being demolished on the site.
