According to the legend of the exercise, a fire occurred in one of the rooms on the first floor of Polyclinic No. 3 of Arkhangelsk City Clinical Hospital No. 6.

After the evacuation of patients and medical personnel, two people remained in the building who were unable to leave the building on their own due to heavy smoke. The gas and smoke protection service of State Fire Service Detachment No. 20 found the victims, removed them from the premises and handed them over to medical service personnel. Soon the fire was extinguished.

As the State Fire Service and Public Protection Agency of the Arkhangelsk Region explained, fires in medical institutions are always complex and have their own characteristics.

First of all, the presence of a large number of people, often unable to move independently, significantly complicates the evacuation of patients. In addition, toxic substances may be released when pharmaceuticals are burned.

Due to the large flammable load in the cabinets, the resulting fire can develop to a large size and additional efforts and resources will be required to eliminate it. Today’s exercises in Maimaks were carried out according to fire rank 1-BIS, which means that the initially arrived forces and resources are not enough and two more fire crews will arrive at the scene of the fire.

Based on the results of the exercise, it was noted that the duty guards of several fire departments coped with the assigned tasks, the department clarified.
