In Astrakhan, an employee of the city administration will be tried for negligence, due to which two people died as a result of attacks by stray dogs. The regional prosecutor’s office reports this.

The Astrakhan Investigative Committee has completed a criminal investigation against the head of the Department of Ecology and Landscaping of the Department of Public Utilities and Improvement of the Administration of the Municipal Formation “Urban District of Astrakhan”.

The official, knowing about the large number of stray animals in Astrakhan, did not take measures to catch them. He did not control the performance of work by the contractor EKOpriyut LLC and signed documents with deliberately false information about the capture.

Thus, thanks to his negligence, 5 thousand dogs did not end up in the shelter. The animals multiplied uncontrollably and began to attack city residents. In the Sovetsky district, two people died from dog attacks in March 2023.

The official’s actions caused damage to the city administration in the amount of 39 million rubles.
