Students from the Samara region participate in the intellectual Olympiad “IQ Volga Federal District”

For the ninth time, the Republic of Mordovia hosts participants and guests of the Intellectual Olympiad, a public project that is being implemented under the patronage of the Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of Russia in the Volga Federal District, Igor Komarov.

224 people from 14 regions of the Volga region – winners of intra-university and regional qualifying stages – are participating in the competition. Teams from the Donetsk People’s Republic, Zaporozhye region, the Kyrgyz Republic, and the Republic of Belarus also took part in the Olympiad competitions. The Samara region is represented at the district Intellectual Olympiad by students of the Federal State Autonomous Educational Institution of Higher Education “Samara National Research University named after Academician S.P. Korolev” and the Volga State College.

Participants of “IQ Volga Federal District” compete in traditional types of the program: “Robotics”, “Parliamentary Debates”, the intellectual game “What? Where? When?”, “Competition of Engineering Teams”, as well as competitive areas included for the first time in the program: “Programming of unmanned aerial vehicles” devices” and “Piloting of unmanned aerial vehicles”.

The knowledge of the most erudite representatives of the youth of the Volga region will be assessed by a professional expert commission, which will include scientists from leading Russian universities, managers, businessmen, and representatives of IT companies.

Deputy Plenipotentiary Representative Oleg Mashkovtsev congratulated gifted and promising students on behalf of the Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of Russia in the Volga Federal District Igor Komarov: “Interest in the Olympiad does not fade away year after year. The number of participants in the intra-university stage of this season is almost 16 thousand people, and there are only 224 finalists. This is already a high result for each of the participants was an opportunity to express themselves, show their skills and abilities, exchange experiences, and feel like part of an intellectual, highly professional environment.”

One of the most exciting things to do at the Intellectual Olympiad is the “What? Where? When?”

“This year, a package of questions was prepared by an entire international team of authors from Saransk, Nizhny Novgorod and the Republic of Belarus. Such different question schools change the situation in the standings literally after every round, and the winner, of course, is the team that has not only banal erudition, but also the ability to look for non-standard solutions,” noted expert of the regional project “IQ Samara” Vladislav Likhachev.

Based on the results of solving non-standard algorithmic, engineering, management and other problems in the fields of science, production, culture and politics, winners and prize-winners will be determined both in individual competitive areas and in the team championship.
