A photo exhibition “Favorites” opened in the gallery of the Gorky Library, prepared for the 75th anniversary of the outstanding Ryazan photographer Evgeny Nikolaevich Kashirin (0+). This is a joint project of the E.N. Kashirin Photo House and the library.

Evgeniy Nikolaevich again gathered friends and all those who are not indifferent to the true art of photography. He didn’t shoot from nature. He photographed the air of life – this is the highest manifestation of art. And his fellow photographers came to breathe this air of the 70s-80s of the last century. We stopped for a long time near famous photographs (they were included in the photo album “Ryazan and Ryazan people. The era of optimism in the photographs of Evgeny Kashirin”), and discovered new nuances of the works.

Kashirin was a frequent guest at the Gorky Local History Club and its photo chronicler, one of the founders of the Oka photo club, a brilliant teacher, head of the children’s photo studio of the State University of Art and Technology, for several years he headed the Ryazan branch of the Union of Photographers of Russia, participated in regional, All-Union and International exhibitions, and was also a member Ryazan Toponymic Commission. “Evgeniy Nikolaevich was always busy filming and was always late for our meetings,” recalls Commission Chairman Nikolai Bulychev. – He ran quickly, always apologized, ran around the hall, took photographs and usually sat down in the farthest corner. He remained silent during the discussion. Once during a heated discussion, I asked him to speak. His answer amazed me: “I don’t dare say anything in the presence of such authoritative people.” And for many of us, including professors and historians, he was precisely the most authoritative local historian. In my memory he remains a very modest person. And I am proud that, on my initiative, Evgeny Nikolaevich was awarded the title of Honorary Citizen of Ryazan.”

Famous city photographers, local historians, and library workers shared their memories of the master. The son of Evgeny Nikolaevich, Dmitry Evgenievich, also came to the opening of the exhibition.
