An anniversary meeting of employees of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia and ASEAN countries was held in St. Petersburg, the press service of the Legislative Assembly reported today. On behalf of the deputies, the meeting participants were welcomed by the Vice Speaker of Parliament Nikolai Bondarenko.
“In December 2024, the Legislative Assembly will celebrate its thirtieth anniversary,” he noted. “A significant component of these contacts is the constant maintenance of dialogue with the authorities of the states of Southeast Asia.”
According to him, special attention is paid to bilateral relations of representative bodies. At the meeting, issues of ensuring regional security and ASEAN relations with the SCO and the EAEU were discussed.
“In recent years, parliamentary delegations from Indonesia and the Philippines have visited St. Petersburg,” he added. “Parliamentary diplomacy, including at the regional level, is an effective tool for establishing trusting relations between different countries and peoples.”
Earlier, the St. Petersburg Diary reported that Russia, together with friendly countries, will continue to build a new financial architecture.
