Sad statistics show that diabetes is a very common disease, and it ranks third among diseases leading to a disastrous outcome. An insidious disease may not manifest itself for a long time. It is possible to find out about the diagnosis only through medical research. Therefore, it is so important to remember your state of health not only when something is sick, but to undergo a medical examination on time and be regularly examined.

If it does happen that diabetes mellitus is diagnosed, there is no reason to despair – there are millions of people in the world who live full and long lives with diabetes mellitus. It is important to know how to maintain normal body condition and monitor basic indicators. In the Pskov region, at the end of 2023, the implementation of a project to create “Schools of Diabetes Mellitus” began. We wrote about the school in Velikiye Luki earlier in our material.

Now training on managing a dangerous disease has become more accessible to patients of the Pskov Regional Clinical Hospital. At the end of April, renovation work was completely completed in the premises of the “School of Diabetes Mellitus” in the POKB.

As the chief physician of the Pskov Regional Clinical Hospital told Luki.ru Evgeniy Panferov, the school is equipped in accordance with federal requirements. New furniture and equipment have been installed in the classroom.

“Patients with diabetes who are hospitalized at the Pskov Regional Clinical Hospital will be taught how to control blood sugar levels, proper nutrition, and the principles of diabetes management. On average, about 56 people are treated in the endocrinology department per month. Lectures will be given by endocrinologists. Endocrinologist Tikhomirova Victoria Olegovna. She has undergone special training in this program, she has the methodological skills necessary for classes: tests, lectures, presentations,”

Equipment setup and other final steps are now taking place before opening. Patients will be notified additionally about the start of classes. The school is opening as part of the federal project “Combating Diabetes Mellitus.”
