More than 73 thousand families live in the Pskov region. Of these, about 4 thousand have large families, more than 2 thousand families are raising children with disabilities, more than 500 families have adopted children, the press service of the government of the Pskov region reported to Pskov News Tape.
Issues of supporting motherhood and childhood were discussed at the all-Russian conference “Russia is a big family of big families. Large families as a new norm”, which took place in Moscow. The Pskov region was represented at the event by the chairman of the social protection committee, Olga Evstigneeva.
During the conference, the Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Central Federal District, Igor Shchegolev, announced the greetings of Russian President Vladimir Putin to the participants, organizers and guests of the event and priority national tasks.
Participants discussed the possibility of restoring a large family as a social norm in the implementation of state demographic policy. Special attention is currently being paid to the implementation of state family and demographic policy. As part of the work of one of the sections, an exchange of experience in patronage of social groups of the population based on a digital platform took place. Also during the conference, they discussed the image of a successful large family, ways and methods of its media support in the media, cinema, and social networks.
In the Pskov region, systematic work has been carried out for a number of years to support motherhood and childhood, modernize educational and healthcare institutions. Last year, a number of additional decisions were adopted, which are addressed to women at the birth of their first child under the age of 25. It involves providing payments to repay a housing loan at the birth of the first child, holding a competition “Best Urban and Rural Family” and others. The authorities of the Pskov region are also considering the introduction of new support measures.
Just a few days ago, changes were made to the regional law in the Pskov region, which expand the regional package of measures to support large families. Since August, large families can receive an annual cash payment for each child to purchase clothes for attending classes and sports uniforms. In addition, children from large families will be able to eat free meals in educational institutions, and they will also be given the right to free travel on public transport on city and suburban routes. Also, large families will be able to compensate 30% of the cost of housing and utilities.
