The national exhibition project “Pushkin and Theater”, dedicated to the 225th anniversary of the birth of Alexander Pushkin, will be presented in Ryazan. According to TASS, from August 1 the exhibition will be on display in the new Museum Center on Sobornaya.

The project was organized with the support of the Russian Ministry of Culture as part of the implementation of the national project “Culture”. As part of the project, 125 items from the stock collection of the Bakhrushin Museum are being exhibited for the first time. The exhibition consists of six circle-squares, inside which visitors become participants in the performance. Here you can see the works of set designers Mikhail Vrubel, Konstantin Korovin, Vasily Polenov. Visitors will get acquainted with interpretations of Pushkin’s works performed by famous artists – Fyodor Chaliapin, Leonid Sobinov, Ivan Melnikov, and with productions by directors Konstantin Stanislavsky, Vsevolod Meyerhold, Alexander Tairov. The exhibition contains masterpieces of theatrical and decorative art, sketches of theatrical costumes, portraits of prominent theater figures, great artists, playwrights of Pushkin’s era, scenes and video clips from performances based on Pushkin’s works, which left a bright mark on Russian theatrical art. Also presented are set designs, sketches and models of performances staged based on the works of Pushkin himself on the stages of drama and musical theaters over more than two centuries.
