An open day dedicated to World Immunization Week was held at the Immunoprophylaxis Center in Pskov. The event took place today, April 26, the press service of the Pskov Regional Infectious Diseases Hospital reported.

The event was attended by students of Pskov Medical College. Chief freelance specialist in allergology and immunology Anastasia Kirilchik told the children about the importance of immunization for the health and well-being of every person.

Anastasia Kirilchik paid special attention to vaccination against measles, chickenpox, HPV, meningococcal and tick-borne infections. “It is necessary to be vaccinated against tick-borne encephalitis in late autumn – in October or November. The vaccine is the only protection against this disease, which can be fatal,” the doctor noted.

Next, the guests assessed the equipment of the treatment room where vaccination is carried out, and visited the office of an infectious disease specialist.

After the tour, students learned what vaccines are available, when is the best time to get vaccinated, and whether the drugs have side effects. Specialists answered all questions about additional vaccinations not included in the national calendar and recommended scheduling a consultation.

We remind you that the immunization center is located on Kuznetskaya Street, 23 in Pskov.
