In Chelyabinsk, the State Committee for the Protection of Cultural Heritage Objects (CHH) of the region identified and approved the object of protection of the OKN “Two-story half-stone house of Mullah M.M. Salimova” on Elkina Street, 18.

The house has a rubble foundation, the walls of the first floor are made of brick, the walls of the second are chopped, and the ceilings are wooden. It was built in 1904 and belonged to Mullah Mukhamedhakim Salimov.

The building has great historical and cultural value, since Akhun Salimov became the first mullah of the Chelyabinsk mosque and was one of the initiators and organizers of its construction. He was also the spiritual leader of the Muslim community.

The building, which is an object of cultural heritage of municipal significance, is located in the preserved environment of the historical buildings of Chelyabinsk on the former Asian Street and is directly adjacent to the territory of the Ak-Mosque.

“This house is one of the perfectly preserved examples of residential bourgeois-merchant architecture of a provincial town at the turn of the 19th – 20th centuries,” – noted in the State Committee for the Protection of OKN of the Chelyabinsk Region.
