More recently, an electric car in Chelyabinsk was considered more of a luxury than a means of transportation. However, the popularity of such machines is growing rapidly. At the beginning of last year, there were 385 electric vehicles in the region, and now there are already 823. In order not to leave owners without power, the network of electric charging stations is being expanded in the Southern Urals. The press service of the regional government told Vecherka how the project to create a charging infrastructure is developing.
There are 92 charging stations in the Chelyabinsk region, of which 67 are in Chelyabinsk. Previously, there were only a few gas stations for electric vehicles in the entire city of a million people, and there was always a queue for them.
By decision of Governor Alexei Teksler, in 2023 the region entered into a pilot project to create an electric charging infrastructure. For the second year in a row, the region has received subsidies for its expansion. These funds are used to compensate part of the costs of installing “fast” electric power stations and technological connection to networks.
Entrepreneurs who decide to open an electric power station can be compensated for up to 60% of the costs of its installation and up to 30% for connecting to the electrical grid. Last year, under the subsidy program, 13 “fast” gas stations with a capacity of 150 kilowatt-hours appeared in the region – this allows you to charge a car in just 20-30 minutes. It takes at least eight hours to slowly charge an electric car. Plans for 2024 include the opening of another 30 “fast” stations. With the development of the electric filling station network, the demand for electric vehicles is increasing.
— Today in the Chelyabinsk region there is a large-scale transition of public transport to environmentally friendly fuels. We also stimulate the development of personal vehicles using gas engine fuel and electricity,” commented the Minister of Economic Development of the region Natalia Lugacheva . — We create conditions for the comfortable operation of electric vehicles by subsidizing the installation of electric charging stations, and we control that the stations fully comply with the high quality requirements set by the region.
The operation of the EPS, for which subsidies were allocated last year, was checked by specialists from the Ministry of Economic Development of the Chelyabinsk Region. According to the department, they managed to connect an electric car to each station and charge it.
High-speed charging stations for electric cars are produced in Chelyabinsk. Only at the beginning of this year in the city installed seven “fast” EZS.
