Moscow. 26 April. INTERFAX.RU – The problem of floods in most of Russia is still ahead, since three-quarters of the country is still covered with snow, said Roman Vilfand, scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia.

“Today, three-quarters of the country’s territory is now covered with snow. This means that the problem of flooding is still ahead. The great Siberian rivers will also begin to open up – the Ob, the Lena, and the Yenisei,” Vilfand said at a press conference on Friday.

He also noted that there is still snow in the northwestern European part of Russia, so rivers such as the Northern Dvina and others have not yet begun to open up.

He noted that a number of regions are now experiencing a difficult flood situation.

Earlier this spring, the Orenburg region faced its worst flood in decades. The most difficult situation occurred in Orenburg and Orsk, where a dam broke on April 5.
