On April 26, a press conference dedicated to the upcoming holiday of the Resurrection of Christ, which will be celebrated on May 5, was held in the press hall of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Nizhny Novgorod Region. The event was organized by the editorial office of the newspaper “Arguments and Facts Nizhny Novgorod”.

The press conference was attended by the head of the organizational department of the Nizhny Novgorod diocese, Archpriest Alexander Malafeev, the head of the press service of the diocese, Priest Alexy Pestretsov, the director of the Nizhny Novgorod branch of the Federal Center for Animal Health (ARRIAH) Irina Petrova, the deputy head of the Nizhny Novgorod testing laboratory of the ARNIAH Lyubov Logatskaya and doctor – nutritionist, candidate of medical sciences, professor of the Volga Research Medical University Alla Polyashova.

The clergy said that on May 4 at 23:15, Metropolitan George of Nizhny Novgorod and Arzamas will lead the solemn service of the Easter Midnight Office, Easter Matins and Divine Liturgy in the Nizhny Novgorod Cathedral in honor of the Holy Blessed Prince Alexander Nevsky. Also, on the night of May 4-5 and on the very day of the Holy Resurrection of Christ, festive services will be held in other churches and monasteries in Nizhny Novgorod.

On May 5, with the blessing of Metropolitan George, a traditional citywide Easter religious procession will take place in Nizhny Novgorod. It will begin at 15:00 at the Kremlin’s St. Michael the Archangel Cathedral. Participants in the religious procession will follow the route: the Kremlin – Bolshaya Pokrovskaya Street – Lykova Dam – Zelensky Congress – National Unity Square – Rozhdestvenskaya Street – Kanavinsky Bridge – Cathedral in honor of the Holy Blessed Prince Alexander Nevsky. Throughout the entire route, the procession will be accompanied by the ringing of bells and Easter chants.

At the end of the religious procession at the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, the ruling bishop will bless the Tsar Easter and a giant Easter cake. All Nizhny Novgorod residents present at the holiday will be able to try Easter treats. After the consecration of the Easter cake and Easter, festive festivities and a concert organized by the Nizhny Novgorod diocese will take place at this church.

At the press conference, Archpriest Alexander Malafeev also recalled the tradition of remembering the dead during Easter. “We will finish commemorating the dead this week,” he explained. — After Palm Sunday, you can clean the graves in the cemetery, paint the fence and do other landscaping issues. Remembering the dead relies on Radonitsa.” This year it falls on May 14th.

Irina Petrova and Lyubov Logatskaya presented recommendations on choosing products for the Easter table. When choosing eggs, you should pay attention to the condition of the packaging and shell, the presence of damage and contamination, check the storage temperature and expiration date. When choosing cottage cheese for Easter, you need to read the label with information about net weight, nutritional value, composition, production date and shelf life. When purchasing flour, it is important to make sure that its packaging is clean, dry and labeled, and you also need to check the smell and taste before baking: the smell should be fresh, without any foreign shades, and the taste should be pleasant, without bitterness.
