April 27. “Victory Dictation” (6+) was written by residents of the Irkutsk region the day before. The event took place at more than 500 venues, including the United Russia Public Support Headquarters. Not only young people, but also military personnel, as well as the deputy head of the regional executive committee of the United Russia party, Irina Petrzyk, decided to test their knowledge of history. This year, the dictation assignments were dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the complete liberation of Leningrad from the fascist blockade, the liberation of Crimea, Belarus, the anniversaries of front-line writers, as well as other anniversary dates, writes IrkutskMedia news agency.

As Irina Petshik said, the “Victory Dictation”, organized by the United Russia party, is being held this year for the sixth time. Its main task is to preserve the memory of the younger generation about the events of the Great Patriotic War and the exploits of young people who defended their homeland, as well as what the Nazis did, including on the territory of European countries.

“The dictation of victory is aimed at ensuring that the next younger generations – the grandchildren and great-grandchildren of those who fought and accomplished feats – know about these events, cherish the memory of them and pass them on. Therefore, from September, new lessons will be introduced in schools and conversations about important things will take place , in which they will talk about how to preserve the people’s memory of the exploits that were accomplished in the Great Patriotic War,” said Irina Petrzyk.

10th grade student, Young Guard member Ivan Zh. said that such events need to be held in order not to forget history and prevent the tragic events of the past from repeating. According to him, he decided to take part in the dictation in order to test his knowledge of history.

“Not all tasks were easy; there are some points that need to be learned. For example, knowledge about internal fronts, orders and dates,” said Ivan Zh.

Deputy of the Legislative Assembly, head of the United Russia Public Support Headquarters Nikolai Trufanov noted that the “Victory Dictation” is an important event not only for young people, but also for all bearers of the Russian mentality.

“Victory Dictation” allows you to find out to what extent our youth have recorded historical events. I am very grateful to our young people, because today they are showing themselves in the Northern Military District and performing feats. We have many heroes who demonstrate selflessness. They were raised by our society in which we grew up and live. Today they are paying off their civic duty and protecting the interests of our country,” said Nikolai Trufanov.

He also emphasized the importance of the “Victory Dictation” for residents of other countries, since during the Second World War, residents of neighboring countries also collaborated with the Soviet Union. According to him, today Western propaganda is aimed at erasing the memory of these events – at eliminating monuments to our national liberating commanders and memories of our fellow countrymen and soldiers who died for victory. Today it is necessary to preserve the historical truth about the Great Patriotic War, which the West is trying to replace.
