Immortal Regiment – Voronezh: Volgina Alexandra Efimovna

--

Volgina Alexandra Efimovna – veteran of the Great Patriotic War (1941 – 1945).

In June 1941, Alexandra Efimovna was only 16 years old, and therefore she waited until she came of age to repay her debt to her Motherland. At the age of 18 she went to the front. Her two older brothers and sister fought with her. And on May 9, 1945, they all celebrated Alexandra’s 20th anniversary and the Great Victory together. None of her family received a funeral, which at that time was a great happiness and an unprecedented rarity.

Alexandra did not like to talk about the war – it was a very difficult time. She said that it was impossibly cold. In winter, under the hat, the hair turned into frozen icicles.

But she always knew that the truth is on our side and we will win!

This year, the All-Russian event “Immortal Regiment” will take place online. You can share your family stories about the years of the Great Patriotic War, and also post a photo of a loved one who participated in the war in the “Immortal Regiment” section. (Only registered users can do this.)
