The fire season has been open since April 27 in four forest districts – Biryusinsky, Zhigalovsky, Taishetsky and Chunsky. The order was signed the day before by the Minister of Forestry of the Irkutsk Region, Pavel Kirdyapkin. The press service of the regional government reported this on April 27, 2024.

The decision to open the fire season was made due to the melting of snow and the establishment of warm, dry weather.

Previously, the fire season was opened in 24 forest districts. Thus, since April 27, it has been operating in 28 of the region’s 37 forest districts.

— This year’s fire season has its own peculiarity. Usually in the spring, most of the fires occur in the south and center of the region. But this year we are seeing fires almost everywhere except in the north. Moreover, absolutely all fires were caused by human fault. We ask residents to be more responsible about the environment and not light fires. If a fire is detected, you need to call the Forest Protection Direct Line at 8-800-100-94-00, 112, the police or the local administration, – said Pavel Kirdyapkin.
