This year, more than 70 enterprises and educational institutions have registered for the action – this is almost 2 times more than in 2023.

In the Omsk region, the April “Week without Turnstiles” is coming to an end, thanks to which future specialists of the region’s enterprises had the opportunity to personally evaluate real jobs and working conditions.

The career guidance campaign was initiated in 2015 by the Union of Mechanical Engineers of the Russian Federation and is now held twice a year – in April and October. As noted in the Omsk regional branch of Soyuzmash, this year for the first time more than 70 enterprises and educational institutions registered in the action – this is almost 2 times more than in 2023.

Along with newcomers, there are also those who have been participating in the career guidance campaign from the very beginning. One of such enterprises is the Omsk polypropylene plant “Poliom”.

“Currently, 15% of Poliom employees are young people under the age of 30,” says the general director of the plant Pavel Evdokimov. – We are interested in candidates with zero experience, but with flexible thinking. They quickly adapt to complex production conditions and strive for constant professional growth. “Week Without Turnstiles” helps schoolchildren and students see the diversity of jobs and professions in the region, get a first impression of an employer and begin to take the first steps towards employment.

The excursion program, prepared by the company’s employees, helps to get acquainted with the full production cycle. The route passes through the laboratory complex, the operator room of the polymerization workshop, as well as the extrusion department, in which polypropylene granules are produced from molten plastic mass. At the end of the route, students visited a finished products warehouse with two packaging lines. The guys saw how finished products are automatically packaged in plastic bags, placed on pallets, and then sent to Russian and foreign customers.

3rd year students majoring in Chemical Technology at Omsk State Technical University are among those who came to the enterprise as part of the “Week Without Turnstiles” project.

– We really enjoyed both the excursion and the plant. It’s great that we were able to see the enterprise from the inside, to see how the workplaces are equipped, how production works, and what the atmosphere of interaction is like in the team. We were allowed to look into the bowels of production and climb to the highest point, where we saw the industrial site from a bird’s eye view. “We went with the desire to look for a place to practice, but now, in my opinion, most of the group is considering employment,” the head of the group shared her impressions Valeria Igumenova.

As the students admitted, during their visit to the plant they were especially interested in the possibility of direct communication with Poliom employees. During such conversations, not only various aspects of the technical process were discussed, but also career prospects at the enterprise. Future specialists were told about professional development opportunities, individual training programs and the company’s social policy.

– Information of this kind traditionally arouses keen interest, and it is no coincidence that it has become one of the mandatory formats for the work of Poliom representatives with students. Employees of the enterprise regularly hold meetings at Omsk State Technical University sites, participate in industry festivals and quizzes, said a specialist from the Omsk State Technical University Career Center Elisveta Palagnyuk.

Let us add that the Omsk region is one of the leaders of the all-Russian campaign “Week without turnstiles”. Last year, 24.5 thousand people became its participants, which is one and a half times more than in 2022. Not only city residents, but also residents of rural areas get the opportunity to get acquainted with the work of industrial enterprises.
