The all-Russian educational project “Farmer School” has started in Irkutsk for the fourth time. Its goal is to train beginning farmers in the region. This year, 35 people will undergo training, each of whom will receive an education in the specialty “Farm Organization”. A total of 93 applications were submitted for participation. The press service of the regional government reported this on April 27, 2024.
– The governor of the region, Igor Kobzev, has set the task of developing agriculture and the agro-industrial complex. This project is aimed at maximizing the popularization of rural workers and shows its effectiveness every year. At the same time, students of this stream, already with knowledge of the matter and an excellent preparatory base, will be able to submit an application to the ministry for the Agrostartup grant, which is intended for the development of their farmsaid the Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Irkutsk region Alexey Lobytsin. The start of competitive events to provide grants to farmers is scheduled for May.
This year the competition for training was three people per place. The program provides classes on opening an effective farming business from scratch, as well as advanced training for existing entrepreneurs. Participants will learn the basics of choosing a business model, the legal aspects of farming, the nuances of marketing technologies, and learn about the possibilities of government support. Training takes place at the Irkutsk State Agrarian University, and practice at leading enterprises in the industry. The classes will last two and a half months, after which farmers will have to defend the business plans developed during the studies.
– What is valuable about this project is that it is not only village residents or existing farmers who go to study. Today people of completely different professions want to master a new specialty or open their own agribusiness. And we, as representatives of the scientific and teaching staff, are happy to participate in the project and are ready to share our knowledge and skills with everyone, – emphasized the rector of Irkutsk State Agrarian University Nikolay Dmitriev.
Over the three years of operation, the program has trained 95 specialists for agriculture, many of whom successfully implement their business ideas and apply their knowledge in practice. The training was created at the initiative of Rosselkhozbank and is implemented jointly with the regional government, the Ministry of Agriculture of the Irkutsk Region and the Irkutsk State Agrarian University.
