The new bridge across the Upa River in Tula is 65% ready. This was reported by the press service of the Territorial Development Fund. The construction of the bridge, let us remind you, has been underway since 2022 with the involvement of funds from an infrastructure budget loan.

The work is scheduled to be completed in November of this year.

Now the builders are reinforcing the monolithic section of the overpass, tensioning the ropes at one of the exits from the bridge, and concreting another exit. All work is on schedule.

It is expected that the bridge will increase connectivity between three districts of the city and reduce the load on the existing Zarechensky Bridge by 40%. This will help reduce daily traffic jams and relieve congestion on Oktyabrskaya, Sovetskaya streets and Demidovskaya Dam street.

The multiplier effect from the construction of a new bridge across the Upa is an impetus for the development of a number of urban areas, which will allow the launch of housing construction projects with a total area of more than 570 thousand square meters. m.

Let us remind you that this bridge is also called the “presidential” bridge. The official opening ceremony of the first stage of the bridge took place in 2009. It was attended by Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev. In honor of this event, the bridge received its name. The latter was invited because his father Heydar Aliyev, at that time the First Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the USSR, was involved in the decision to build the bridge in the early 1980s.
