The duty station of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs in the city of Kaluga received a statement from a local resident about bringing to justice a citizen who had defrauded him of 8 thousand rubles.

Based on this fact, the investigation unit of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the city of Kaluga opened a criminal case on the grounds of a crime under Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Fraud.”

Police officers identified a possible suspect. He turned out to be a 34-year-old local resident who had previously been convicted.

According to the police, the defendant, while on the street, drew attention to a citizen walking his dog. Approaching the man, the suspect offered him to buy pet food at a low price. When the interested Kaluga resident agreed and handed over the announced amount, the defendant, having no intention of fulfilling his obligations, disposed of other people’s savings at his personal discretion.

The investigation is ongoing.

According to the law, the sanction of the article for committing this act provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for up to 2 years.
