He did painstaking work for more than ten years.

Chelyabinsk resident Alexey Veretnov wove a giant icon of the Mother of God “The Unbreakable Wall” from polymer film. He presented a three-meter “canvas”, claiming to be the largest in the world, at the festival of creativity for people with disabilities in Chelyabinsk.

– To create a realistic image, special shades were required. The Chelyabinsk resident found them in his surroundings, writes “Evening Chelyabinsk”. – For example, for the red scarf of the Virgin Mary I used red film from kilogram bags of sugar, for the frame I used packaging for computer parts and chips.

Alexey bought some of the materials in rolls of 10 meters. In total, the work includes 45 thousand parts! For the stand, he used more than 30 meters of metal of different diameters, boxes, bolts and nuts. It took more than ten years to create the work, which claims to be a Russian record.

The master himself admits that the preparation was complex, and whatever the scheme was there was missing. Alexey Veretnov started from an icon measuring 60 by 140 millimeters.

– The material had to be collected bit by bit. What was sold in stores did not match the color scheme. I searched for many colors for years, but the work did not stop, but continued day after day, month after month, year after year,” he recalls. – Friends and simply caring people helped me. But many did not believe that this could really be done.

You can see the plastic icon in the foyer of the Palace of Children’s Creativity. In the near future, the master plans to consecrate it in a monastery in the Kurgan region.

It is worth noting that this is not the first record-breaking work by the South Ural resident. He is the winner of the international Philanthropist Award. His wicker painting “Dalmatovsky Monastery” was included in the Russian book of records.
