April 27. The Kuibyshevsky District Court sentenced two guys from Irkutsk for fraud. Nine pensioners aged 77 to 89 became victims of the scammers. The damage amounted to 2.3 million rubles. This was reported by IrkutskMedia news agency with reference to the press service of the court.

Attackers deceived senior citizens through phone calls. They received from them from 150 thousand rubles to 500 thousand rubles.

The court found the young people guilty of committing 11 counts of fraudulent activity. The 20-year-old guy was sentenced to 5 years in prison in a general regime colony. His 23-year-old accomplice was sentenced to 5 years and 10 months in prison in a maximum security colony, since he had previously been convicted.

The court also resolved the fate of the victims’ civil claims. The verdict has not yet entered into legal force.
